Ask five D2C founders what a UGC video costs and you'll get five different numbers. Most of them will be too low, because they only count the creator's invoice.
This puts the whole cost on one page: what creators in India charge right now, what gets added on top, and where AI UGC is cheaper and where it isn't.
What creators charge in 2026
There's no official rate card for UGC in India, so the best you can do is triangulate. Rate guides published this year put beginners at roughly ₹500 to ₹2,000 per video (Boss Wallah), mid-tier creators around ₹5,000 to ₹12,000 (Fueler), and experienced creators with a paid-ads track record at ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 or more (Fluxnote).
The ranges are wide because they describe different jobs. A beginner sends a phone video. An experienced ad creator sends a scripted, lit, edited piece with three hook options and knows what stops a thumb.
For ads you actually plan to scale, most brands end up paying mid-tier or above.
The costs that aren't on the rate card
Usage rights. Most creators price organic use and paid use separately, and paid usage is usually time-limited (Idukki's rate card guide explains how creators structure it). When a video keeps winning and you want to run it longer, that's another invoice.
Product shipping. Every creator needs the product in hand. A 10-creator test means 10 units, 10 courier shipments, and 10 chances for a parcel to sit in a hub for a week. For supplements, food or anything in glass, add damage and returns.

Reshoots. The creator mispronounces the product, holds the bottle upside down, or makes a claim your team can't approve. In health and beauty, an unapproved claim is an ASCI problem, not just an edit. Each fix waits on the creator's schedule.
Time. Finding creators, briefing, negotiating, shipping and waiting takes weeks per round. Meanwhile, your live ads keep fatiguing.
Coordination. Someone on your team owns the spreadsheet of 10 creators, 10 contracts and 10 deadlines. That's a salary, or a large slice of one.
A worked example: 30 videos in one month
Say you want 30 ad videos next month across 10 different people, so you can test properly on Meta.
With creators. Take a mid-tier rate of ₹8,000 a video, the middle of the published range. That's ₹2.4 lakh in creation fees before usage rights, shipping or a single reshoot, spread across 10 separate relationships. The bigger risk is that you won't have all 30 inside the month.
With AI UGC. On our Launch plan, 30 videos at ₹3,500 to ₹6,500 each comes to ₹1.05 lakh to ₹1.95 lakh, delivered in 2 to 3 weeks. There's no shipping and no usage-rights renewal, and a new person or language is a production choice rather than another negotiation. At 50 or more videos a month the rate drops to ₹3,000 to ₹5,000.

Where creators are still the better buy
We sell AI UGC, so weigh this accordingly. There are still jobs we'd send to a real creator:
- Genuine reviews. If the point is that a real person used the product for a month, it should be a real person.
- Reach. If you're buying a creator's audience and their followers' trust, that's influencer marketing. AI can't do it.
- Founder-led content. Your founder explaining why they started the brand should be your founder.
AI UGC is the right tool for performance creative: many different people, angles, settings and languages every month, made to be tested and replaced. Meta's Andromeda update makes that variety matter more than it used to. We explain why in our Andromeda playbook.
Whichever route you take, follow Meta's rules on labelling AI-generated content, and keep claims inside what ASCI allows for your category.
How to compare quotes properly
When you put a creator quote next to an AI UGC quote, compare the cost of a usable, rights-cleared video delivered inside the month. Ask every supplier:
- Is paid usage included, and for how long?
- Who pays for shipping and reshoots?
- How many different people and languages does this price cover?
- When will I have all 30, not just the first five?
Or skip the quotes and judge a real video. Send us your product on WhatsApp and we'll make one ad for your brand within 24 hours, free.
